About The Blog

Hi. Nice to meet y'all.

My name is Ben. I am someone who is aspiring to be a comic book writer and artist.

Reasons for starting this blog

  1. I have been teaching myself how to hone in on my drawing expertise and defining my own art style, and have been meaning to also teach myself on learning about the techniques that go into comic book writing and formatting. However, I've been finding myself focusing more on the art side and less on the actual writing side. Of course, it's not bad at all for me to be getting better at drawing; it'd be absurd for me to think that it is bad. However, it is essential to have the writing side be as strong as the art side. My hope is that the blog will increase in quality alongside my skills as a writer.
  2. Not only will making a blog help me learn how to write better in a general sense, but also, the main focus of this blog will help me learn more about comics and storytelling as well. This main focus, of course, being essay-styled reviews, which I'll talk more about soon.
  3. My good friend has also started his own blog, so that has inspired me to make my own. (His blog you can find here: A Blog of Someone On the Internet )
  4. I really want to tell people about the stories I have grown to love. As an artist, I adore finding beauty in so many things: nature, art, the Bible, and, of course, fiction. I adore sharing with people the reasons why I love certain stories.
  5. I want you to just have fun reading and learning about something. :)

So, the reviews...

Like I said, this is going to be a review-centered blog. I'm going to do reviews in an essay-style, not so much in your typical amazon review where it's like "Oh, so I liked this about this, but not this." There's gonna be some hefty thought put into these reviews. As for what I'll review, it's blatantly obvious I'll mainly review comic books. Yknow, you've got your Spider-Man, your Superman, your Transformers, all that jazz. I'll also do manga reviews too, because they're literally just Japanese comics. I'll also want to do some video game and anime reviews occasionally, and other pieces of media like movies and Christian music, but expect to mainly see American comic book and manga reviews here. I do want to be quite serious in these reviews, but I'm known by my peers to be a very humorous guy, so expect some lil' quips here and there. I'll also want to take into consideration my perspective on things. I am a Christian with conservative views, and I'll be keeping that fact in mind when making these reviews. If I do come across something that's, well, "woke," I will call it out and will be like "Hey, I don't agree with this, it goes against my personal beliefs, and I will not condone it." I'm not going to be harsh and aggresively rude. I would love to keep things civil here. There's too much of people on the internet getting all riled up and raining down hellfire on those who have a differing opinion than them, and I do not want to bring any of that into my reviews. I will keep my disagreements as "chillaxed" as possible. I also believe that I am usually a very happy guy who loves to be infectious in my joy.

In Conclusion...

...I really don't have too much else to say. I have already said all I wanted to say here. So, enjoy the reviews, and may God truly bless you. "God bless" is a term people use wayyyyy too flippantly and never really mean it, but I do. I truly do pray that to you, whoever may read this, that God may bless you.

Phillipians 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. (NLT)
